Canadian Iaido Association
CIA is now first ever foreign ZNIR Association
The Canadian Iaido Association (CIA) has officially become a Kyoukai (association) of the Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei (ZNIR – All Japan Iaido Federation), under the Kanto Chiku Renmei.
From now on the CIA will issue only official ZNIR Dan certificates. These certificates will be no different than if the Dan test had been conducted in Japan and will be recognized at any ZNIR Taikai or event in Japan.
The Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei, founded in 1954, is the oldest Iaido Renmei in Japan and the world, and is the largest and only Iaido specialist organization in Japan. Established in accordance with Japanese Bushido spirit, it aims to correctly transmit to future generations the time-honoured schools of Kobudo Iaido. The Canadian Iaido Association is the first and only foreign association to join the Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei.
As a consequence of this new alliance, all persons attending ZNIR/CIA Seminars are now required to abide by the rules of both the ZNIR and the CIA with no exception.
This is a rare and difficult status to attain for any Iaido association, and we wish every Canadian Iaido Association practitioner will benefit from this astonishing achievement.
