Canadian Iaido Association
Ikeda Takashi Seikō Sōke, 1932 – 2019
We regret to write that the 7th President of the All Japan Iaido Federation (Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei, or ZNIR) and the 22nd Sōke of Musō Jikiden Eishin Ryu, Ikeda Takashi Seikō Sōke, has passed away in 2019. He is officially succeeded by Fukui Masato Masataka Sōke in 2019 who was appointed as his successor many years ago.
Fukui Sōke will be the 8th President of the All Japan Iaido Federation (ZNIR) and 23rd Sōke in a distinguished lineage. We will forever cherish the memories with the late Ikeda Soke, who was a strong leader and supporter of Iaido in Japan and abroad. The CIA offers our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and students.
In 2019 and beyond, the CIA looks forward to following the guidance and tutelage of the new 8th ZNIR President and 23rd MJER Sōke Fukui Masato Masataka Sōke and continue to fully support the unbroken orthodox lineage of the ZNIR and MJER without reservation, as instructed by the first President of the Canadian Iaido Association, Ted Davis Sensei before he passed away in 2007. Looking ahead, we are filled with boundless confidence and enthusiasm for Iaido and the ZNIR and MJER leadership. We sincerely wish everyone a great 2020 new year, it will certainly be a brand new start for the ZNIR/CIA Iaido.
