Safety concerns
- If you injure yourself, or you notice someone is injured, immediately stop practicing and get the attention of a sensei. It is important that every practitioner of iaido is safe and healthy – there will always be a medical aid kit nearby in a seminar.
- During practice of waza, please do not wander around – there is a certain amount of space expected for practice (about 14 ft by 14 ft) and if you wander into someone’s space, it is possible you can be injured. If you absolutely must leave your position, please follow proper etiquette and make sure that anyone you pass near understands you are passing by.
- When you practice, make sure there is no-one in your immediate practice area. This means if there is a row of people ahead of you, you space yourself such that no-one in the row ahead of you is in front of you.
- In break time or free practice time be extra aware of your surroundings.
- Hosting dojos should provide water for each practitioner throughout the seminar. During summer seminars it can often get hot, it is important to keep everyone hydrated.
