Happy New Year 2019!
Happy New Year 2019! 明けましておめでとうございます! 2018 brought us some new faces and returning practitioners. We again had an excellent summer seminar and a very productive gasshuku. We look forward to all that 2019 brings!
New Dojo at Burnside Gorge
Chris Tooley Sensei (Renshi, ZNIR) will be opening a new Dojo on Tuesday nights from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre, starting January 8, 2019.
2nd Shoshinkai Gasshuku 第二回初心会合宿 Complete!
Our second Shoshinkai November 2018 Gasshuku is complete! Thanks to all who attended, and please remember what we went over and write down/practice the techniques. Everyone worked hard until late in the night. We look forward to future Gasshukus!
2018 VNCS Japanese Cultural Fair Demo Complete
The Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society (VNCS) held their annual cultural fair Saturday, October 27, 2018, and Shoshinkai Victoria once again had the pleasure to demonstrate Iaido.

New Dojo: 100 Mile Iaido
Eric Dunning Sensei (5 Dan, ZNIR) will soon be opening a new Dojo on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at 100 Mile House in the 100 Mile House Elementary main Gymnasium, starting October 15, 2018. We look forward to meeting new practitioners!
2018 Certificates have Arrived
The ZNIR Dan Certificates for the 2018 CIA Summer Dan examination have arrived from the ZNIR in Japan through official channels. After some minor checks, CIA headquarters will be sending them out to your local Senseis, who will then present you your certificate.
Gorge Canada Day Celebration 2018 Demonstration Complete
Every year, the Gorge has a very large and lively Canada Day celebration on July 1st. This year, Shoshinkai Victoria was able to demonstrate Iai to the general public and engage with the public regarding Iaido.
Chris Tooley Sensei appointed Vice President of the Canadian Iaido Association
During the recent 2018 Summer Seminar, Denton Hewgill Sensei announced that Chris Tooley Sensei has been appointed the role of Vice President of the Canadian Iaido Association. This appointment has been officially recognized by the ZNIR Kanto Region President and Overseas Auditor.

We have added a page to further clarify the relationship between the ZNIR and MJER Seitokai. We hope this page can clear up common misconceptions and provide further clarification for practitioners through an official explanation provided by the ZNIR.
