Mark MᶜAllister, Manager of Promotion
Mark MᶜAllister Sensei, ZNIR 4th Dan, has been dedicatedly practicing Iaido for 10 years at Shoshinkai Victoria under the tutelage of Denton Hewgill Sensei, Takeji Itoh Sensei, and Chris Tooley Sensei. He is also a teacher of Fine Arts and has always been interested in East Asian art & culture. Mark MᶜAllister Sensei is also pursuing a career in professional woodworking.
At age 18 Mark Sensei began his initial study of Martial arts with Shotokan Karate. His particular branch of Karate was a part of the ISKF/JKA, which provided direct oversight from Japan. Over the course of 8 years he competed in provincial and national level tournaments, and has trained in Karate in Japan, with Sensei who where direct students of Gichin Funakoshi Sensei. Of the 8 years Mark Sensei practiced Karate, 6 were spent teaching. Mark Sensei’s focus is on the cultivation of Japanese manners, customs and history as it relates to Iaido.
